Checking System Alarms

Prerequisites

Before using the DeviceManager, ensure that the maintenance terminal meets requirements for using the DeviceManager.
  • Compatibility of operating systems and browsers
The DeviceManager is compatible with multiple types of operating systems and browsers. However, partially compatible browsers cannot fully ensure the ease-of-use experience. Table 1 lists the operating systems and browsers compatible with the DeviceManager.

  • The maintenance terminal communicates with the storage system properly.
  • The super administrator can log in to the storage system only in Local User authentication mode.
  • To use a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) domain user account to log in to the DeviceManager, you must configure the LDAP server first, and then set the LDAP server parameters and create an LDAP domain user account.

Context

  • DeviceManager only supports TSL protocols (including TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2).
  • For a 2 U controller enclosure (5300 V3/5500 V3), the default IP addresses of the management network ports on controllers A and B are respectively 192.168.128.101 and 192.168.128.102, and the default subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. For a 3 U or 6 U controller enclosure (5600 V3/5800 V3/6800 V3/6900 V3), the default IP addresses of the management network ports on management modules 0 and 1 are respectively 192.168.128.101 and 192.168.128.102, and the default subnet mask is 255.255.0.0.
  • The default user name and password of the super administrator are admin and Admin@storage respectively.
  • This document explains how to log in to the DeviceManager in the Windows operating system. The login operations in other operating systems are similar.

Procedure

  1. Run the Internet Explorer on your maintenance terminal.
  2. Enter https://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8088 in the address box and press Enter.

    NOTE:
    • XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX indicates the management network port IP address of a storage system.
    • The browser may display a message indicating that the website has a security certificate error. Ignore this error and continue the login if the entered IP address is correct.
    • If you have a usable security certificate, you are advised to use corresponding commands to import the certificate to improve system security. For details about the corresponding commands, see OceanStor 5300 V3&5500 V3&5600 V3&5800 V3&6800 V3&6900 V3 Storage System V300R003 Command Reference, OceanStor 18500 V3&18800 V3 Enterprise Storage System V300R003 Command Reference, .

  3. Optional: Set the login mode and language.
    1. Click Advanced.
    2. In the Authentication Mode area, select a login mode.

      • Local user: You will log in to the storage system in local authentication mode.

The super administrator can log in to the storage system only in Local User authentication mode.

      • LDAP user: You will log in to the storage system in LDAP domain authentication mode.

You can log in to the storage system in LDAP domain authentication mode only after the LDAP server is properly configured.

    3. In the Language drop-down list box, select the desired language.
  4. Type your user name and password in Username and Password respectively

    NOTE:
    • In Verification Code, enter the correct verification code.
    • If you log in to the storage system in LDAP User mode, enter your LDAP domain user name and password. The default user name and password of the local super administrator are admin and Admin@storage respectively.
    • If an administrator or a read-only user forgets the password, the administrator or read-only user can contact the super administrator to reset the password. If you forget the user name or password of the super administrator account, contact Huawei technical engineers.
    • If the number of failed login attempts reaches Wrong Times described in Login Policy, the account is automatically locked for the specified length of time.
    • You are advised to change the default login password immediately after you have logged in to the storage system for the first time, and to periodically change your login password in the future. This reduces password leakage risks.

  5. Click Login.

The DeviceManager management page is displayed.

  6. View alarms.

On the right navigation bar of the DeviceManager, click Monitor. In the left function pane, click Alarms and Logs. The Alarms and Logs page is displayed.

  7. On the Alarms and Events page, click Current Alarms.
  8. View the alarm information of the storage system.
