Checking a Fiber Channel Port

Procedure

  1. Replace the optical fiber. Perform the check again to determine whether the check is passed.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to step 2.

  2. Check whether an optical module is inserted into the port.

    • If yes, go to step 3.
    • If no, go to step 4.

  3. Replace the optical module of the port and the optical module of the peer port in sequence. Perform the check again to determine whether the check is passed.

For details about how to replace an optical module, see OceanStor 5300 V3&5500 V3&5600 V3&5800 V3&6800 V3&6900 V3 Storage SystemV300R001 Parts Replacement or OceanStor 5300 V3&5500 V3&5600 V3&5800 V3&6800 V3 Storage System V300R002 Parts Replacement: Replacing an Optical Module.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to step 4.

  4. Replace the interface module where the port resides and the interface module where the peer port resides in sequence. Perform the check again to determine whether the check is passed.

    NOTE:
    For details about how to replace an interface module, see OceanStor 5300 V3&5500 V3&5600 V3&5800 V3&6800 V3&6900 V3 Storage SystemV300R001 Parts Replacement or OceanStor 5300 V3&5500 V3&5600 V3&5800 V3&6800 V3 Storage System V300R002 Parts Replacement:
    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to step 5.

  5. Check whether the port rate of the peer-end device (a switch or a host) is 2000 Mbit/s, 4000 Mbit/s, 8000 Mbit/s, or 16000 Mbit/s. If the port rate is not one of them, clear the port fault of the peer-end device. Perform the check again to determine whether the check is passed.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to step 6.

  6. Collect related information and contact technical support engineers.
