Optical Transceiver Status

The status is Fault.

  1. Remove the optical fiber and optical transceiver, and plug in them again.

    After the optical fiber and optical transceiver are plugged in, log in to the ISM, and choose Event > Event Management from the menu bar. In the displayed Event Management dialog box, click the Events tab. Select device and source, and click Query. Check whether Recovered At of the Optical Transceiver of the Host Port Is Faulty event is displayed.

    • Yes => No further action is required.
    • No => 2.

  2. Check whether the optical fiber is curved as a circle with a radius less than 5 cm.

    • Yes => 3.
    • No => 4.

  3. Recurve the optical fiber to meet the curving principle.

    NOTE:
    Principles of optical fiber routing:
    • Do not forcibly pull or excessively bend the optical fibers.
    • The bend radius of optical fibers must be no less than 5 cm (1.97 inches).
    • Do not stack other cables on the laid optical fibers.
    • Power cables and ground cables should be separated from signal cables to reduce interference. The corrugated pipes should stretch into the cabinet by about 10 cm (3.94 inches).
    • Cut the corrugated pipe according to the required length during hardware installation. Wrap the sharp edge of the corrugated pipe with tape to protect the optical fibers.
    • In an equipment room with brackets and ESD floors, optical fibers shielded in the corrugated pipes are routed through the ground interlayer or the cable tray.
    • Optical fibers are routed through the cable tray that is installed on the top of the cabinet.
    • If the distance between the cable tray and the cabinet top is longer than 0.8 m (31.52 inches), a cable ladder should be used.

    After the optical fiber is recurved, on the ISM, choose Event > Event Management from the menu bar. In the displayed Event Management dialog box, click the Events tab. Select device and source, and click Query. Check whether Recovered At of the Optical Transceiver of the Host Port Is Faulty event is displayed.

    • Yes => No further action is required.
    • No => 4.

  4. Check whether the optical fiber is squeezed, distorted, or folded.

    • Yes => 5.
    • No => 6.

  5. Replace the optical fiber.

    After the optical fiber is replaced, on the ISM, choose Event > Event Management from the menu bar. In the displayed Event Management dialog box, click the Events tab. Select device and source, and click Query. Check whether Recovered At of the Optical Transceiver of the Host Port Is Faulty event is displayed.

    • Yes => No further action is required.
    • No => 6.

  6. Replace the optical transceiver on the host, FC switch and the storage device respectively.

    After the optical transceiver is replaced, on the ISM, choose Event > Event Management from the menu bar. In the displayed Event Management dialog box, click the Events tab. Select device and source, and click Query. Check whether Recovered At of the Optical Transceiver of the Host Port Is Faulty event is displayed.

    • Yes => No further action is required.
    • No => 7.

  7. Collect related event information, and send it to technical support engineers for further handling.
