  1. Cause 1: The optical transceiver is faulty.
    1. On the ISM, check whether alarm 0xE020B0003 Optical Transceiver of the Host Port Is Faulty (for S2200T/S2600T/S5500T/S5600T/S5800T/S6800T and S2900/S3900/S5900/S6900) or 0xE020B000B Optical Transceiver of the Host Port Is Faulty (for S5500T and S3900) exists.

    2. Handle the fault according to the suggestions in alarm 0xE020B0003 Optical Transceiver of the Host Port Is Faulty (for S2200T/S2600T/S5500T/S5600T/S5800T/S6800T and S2900/S3900/S5900/S6900) or 0xE020B000B Optical Transceiver of the Host Port Is Faulty (for S5500T and S3900).
    3. After the operation is complete, check whether the link indicator of the FC host port is steady green or blue, and whether its Running Status on the ISM is Link Up.

      • Yes => The procedure is complete.
      • No => Cause 4.

  2. Cause 2: The optical transceiver is incompatible with the host port.
    1. On the ISM, check whether alarm 0xE020B0004 Optical Transceiver Is Incompatible with the Host Port (for S2200T/S2600T/S5500T/S5600T/S5800T/S6800T and S2900/S3900/S5900/S6900) or 0xE020B000C Optical Transceiver Is Incompatible with the Host Port (for S5500T and S3900) exists.

    2. Handle the fault according to the suggestions in alarm 0xE020B0004 Optical Transceiver Is Incompatible with the Host Port (for S2200T/S2600T/S5500T/S5600T/S5800T/S6800T and S2900/S3900/S5900/S6900) or 0xE020B000C Optical Transceiver Is Incompatible with the Host Port (for S5500T and S3900).
    3. After the operation is complete, check whether the link indicator of the FC host port is steady green or blue, and whether its Running Status on the ISM is Link Up.

      • Yes => The procedure is complete.
      • No => Cause 4.

  3. Cause 3: The rate of the optical transceiver is different from that of the host port.
    1. On the ISM, check whether alarm 0xE020B0005 Rate of the Optical Transceiver Is Inconsistent With That of Its Host Port (for S2200T/S2600T/S5500T/S5600T/S5800T/S6800T and S2900/S3900/S5900/S6900) or 0xE020B000D Rate of the Optical Transceiver Is Inconsistent With That of Its Host Port (for S5500T and S3900) exists.

    2. Handle the fault according to the suggestions in alarm 0xE020B0005 Rate of the Optical Transceiver Is Inconsistent With That of Its Host Port (for S2200T/S2600T/S5500T/S5600T/S5800T/S6800T and S2900/S3900/S5900/S6900) or 0xE020B000D Rate of the Optical Transceiver Is Inconsistent With That of Its Host Port (for S5500T and S3900).
    3. After the operation is complete, check whether the link indicator of the FC host port is steady green or blue, and whether its Running Status on the ISM is Link Up.

      • Yes => The procedure is complete.
      • No => Cause 4.

  4. Cause 4: The optical fiber is improperly inserted or faulty.
    1. Reinsert or replace the optical fiber.
    2. After the operation is complete, check whether the link indicator of the FC host port is steady green or blue, and whether its Running Status on the ISM is Link Up.

      • Yes => The procedure is complete.
      • No => Cause 5.

  5. Cause 5: The port rate of the storage system is different from that of the device it is connected to.
    1. Check whether the network is a direct-connection network or a switch-connection network.

      • Switch-connection network => 5.b.
      • Direct-connection network => 5.h.

    2. Check whether the rates of the FC host port of the storage system and the switch port connecting to the storage system are the same.

      NOTE:

      For details on how to check the rate of a switch port or an FC HBA, consult relevant manufacturers or refer to relevant manuals.

    3. Adjust Running Rate of the FC host port to the same rate of the corresponding switch port.
    4. After the rates are adjusted to the same, check whether the link indicator of the FC host port is steady green or blue, and whether its Running Status on the ISM is Link Up.

      • Yes => The procedure is complete.
      • No => 5.e.

    5. Check whether the rates of the FC HBA of the host and the port it is connected to on the switch are the same.

      • Yes => Keep the fault environment intact and contact technical support engineers.
      • No => 5.f.

    6. Adjust the rate of the switch port to the same rate of the FC HBA.
    7. After the rates are the same, check whether the link indicator of the FC host port is steady green or blue, and whether its Running Status on the ISM is Link Up.

      • Yes => The procedure is complete.
      • No => Keep the fault environment intact and contact technical support engineers.

    8. Check whether the rates of the FC host port of the storage system and the FC HBA of the host are the same.

      • Yes => Keep the fault environment intact and contact technical support engineers.
      • No => 5.i.

    9. Adjust Running Rate of the FC host port to the same rate of the corresponding FC HBA.
    10. After the rates are adjusted to the same, check whether the link indicator of the FC host port is steady green or blue, and whether its Running Status on the ISM is Link Up.

      • Yes => The procedure is complete.
      • No => Keep the fault environment intact and contact technical support engineers.

Unavailable iSCSI Link

  1. Cause 1: The IP address of the iSCSI host port of the storage system or of the service network port of the application server is incorrect.
    1. Check whether the IP addresses of the iSCSI host port and that of the service network port can send and receive message to and from each other.

      • Yes => Keep the fault environment intact and contact technical support engineers.
      • No => 1.b.

    2. Check whether the network is a direct-connection network or a switch-connection network.

      • Direct-connection network => 1.c.
      • Switch-connection network => 1.d.

    3. Modify the IP address of the iSCSI host port to the same network segment as the IP address of the service network port, and then go to 1.e.

      NOTE:

      The IP address of the service network port can be modified to the same network segment as the IP address of the iSCSI host port.

    4. Add a route between the iSCSI host port and the service network port to enable the communication in between, and then go to 1.e.
    5. Run the ping command on the application server to check whether the network connection is established between the iSCSI host port and the service network port.

      • Yes => The procedure is complete.
      • No => Cause 2.

  2. Cause 2: Cables connecting the application server and the storage system are loose or damaged.
    1. Reinsert or replace the network cable connecting the storage system and the application server.
    2. After the operation is complete, run the ping command on the application server to check whether the network connection is established between the application server and the iSCSI host port.

      • Yes => 2.c.
      • No => Keep the fault environment intact and contact technical support engineers.

    3. After the operation is complete, check whether the link indicator of the iSCSI host port is steady green, and whether its Running Status on the ISM is Link Up.

      • Yes => The procedure is complete.
      • No => Keep the fault environment intact and contact technical support engineers.
