Troubleshooting for an Upgrade Failure Due to Insufficient Space

Context

The upgrade inspection tool detects that a storage system cannot be upgraded due to insufficient space.

Procedure

  1. Check whether historical performance data needs to be backed up. If no, delete data directly; if yes, go to 2.

    NOTICE:

If there are too many performance statistical files, operations such as data deletion, backup, and restoration may cause slow response. You are advised to perform operations in batches.

    1. Use an SFTP tool (such as WinSCP) to connect and log in to the storage system. Go to the /OSM/coffer_data/perf/perf_files/ directory.
    2. Right-click data files that are to be deleted and choose Delete from the shortcut menu.

  2. Optional: Back up historical performance statistical data.
    1. Use an SFTP tool (such as WinSCP) to connect and log in to the storage system. Go to the /OSM/coffer_data/perf/perf_files/ directory.
    2. Back up historical performance statistical data in the /OSM/coffer_data/perf/perf_files/ directory of all controllers to a local computer and name data by node number.

      NOTE:

Bases on a test, 3.8 GB files of a single controller require 6 minutes to be backed up to a local computer.

    3. After the backup completes, delete historical performance statistical data in the /OSM/coffer_data/perf/perf_files/ directory of all controllers.
  3. Perform the backup again.

    NOTE:

If the fault persists after the preceding operations, contact Huawei technical support engineers.

  4. After the upgrade, determine whether backup files need to be restored to the storage system. If yes, copy historical performance statistical files of controllers that are backed up in 2 to the /OSM/coffer_data/perf/perf_files/ directory of each controller.
  5. Change the permission of historical performance statistical files. Right-click files that are to be modified and choose properties from the shortcut menu. On the page that is displayed, type 0644 in Octalin the Permissions area.
