Checking the Status of an Optical Module

Fault Status

  1. Remove and reinsert the fiber and the optical module.

Log in to the DeviceManager and check whether Recovery Time of the event is displayed.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to step 2.

  2. Check whether the bending radius of the optical fiber is less than 5 cm.

    • If yes, go to step 3.
    • If no, go to step 4.

  3. Rewind the optical fibers to meet the optical fiber routing rules.

    NOTE:
The optical fiber routing rules are as follows:
    • Fibers should not be routed by force or bent unnaturally.
    • The bending radius of optical fibers is equal to or larger than 50 mm.
    • No power cables are placed onto optical fibers that are routed.
    • The optical fibers laid in a cabinet need to be placed in corrugated pipes. The corrugated pipes should stretch into the cabinet by about 100 mm.
    • During hardware installation, cut the corrugated pipes based on the actual routing length. Wrap the sharp ends of corrugated pipes with adhesive tape to protect the fiber.
    • In the equipment room with brackets and ESD floors, optical fibers shielded in the corrugated pipes are routed through the ground inter-layer or the cable tray.
    • Optical fibers shielded in the corrugated pipes can also walk through the cable tray that is installed on the top of the cabinet.
    • If the distance between the cable tray and the cabinet top is longer than 0.8 m, a cable ladder should be used.

Log in to the DeviceManager and check whether Recovery Time of the event is displayed.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to step 4.

  4. Observe the appearance of the optical fiber to check whether it is extruded, twisted, or bent.

    • If yes, go to step 5.
    • If no, go to step 6.

  5. Replace the optical fiber.

Log in to the DeviceManager and check whether Recovery Time of the event is displayed.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to step 6.

  6. Replace the optical module of the host, fiber switch, and storage system in sequence.

Log in to the DeviceManager and check whether Recovery Time of the event is displayed.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to step 7.

  7. Collect related information and contact technical support engineers.
