Checking the Status of an Expansion Module

Procedure

  1. Replace the faulty expansion module.

    1. Wear an ESD wrist strap, ESD gloves, and ESD clothes.
    2. Pull out the mini SAS cables or fabric cables.
    3. Completely raise the latches on the expansion module in the directions of the arrows and remove the module, as shown in steps 1 and 2 in Figure 1.

    4. Place the removed expansion module into an ESD bag.
    5. Take the spare expansion module out of its ESD bag.
    6. Insert the expansion module into the vacant slot, as shown in step 1 in Figure 2.
    7. Shut the latches of the expansion module, as shown in step 2 in Figure 2.

    8. Insert the mini SAS cables or fabric cables.
    9. View the power and alarm indicators of the expansion module, and check whether the expansion module is successfully installed.
      • If the power indicator is steady on and the alarm indicator is off, the expansion module is successfully installed.
      • If the power indicator is off or the alarm indicator is on, the expansion module has not been installed properly. In this case, remove and reinsert the expansion module.

    Log in to the ISM and choose Event > Event Management. Click Events in the Event Management dialog box and select the device and event. Click Query to check whether Recovered At of the expansion module event is displayed.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to step 2.

  2. Collect related information and contact technical support engineers.
