Checking the Physical Status of a Disk

How to Solve the Problem if Disk Status Is Fault, Write protect, Invalid, or Isolated

  1. Replace a disk.

    • For Dorado2100 G2, replace the disk by referring to Replacing a Disk in the chapter of Replacing Parts in the OceanStor Dorado2100 G2 Storage System V100R001 Troubleshooting.
    • For Dorado5100, replace the disk by referring to Replacing a Disk in the chapter of Replacing Parts in the OceanStor Dorado5100 Storage System V100R001 Troubleshooting.

How to Solve the Problem if Disk Status Is Single Path

  1. Check whether a single-link alarm is generated on the uplink expansion enclosure.

    • If yes, handle the single-link alarm. Run showdisk -physic to check disk status. If disk status is still Single Path, go to step 2.
    • If no, go to step 2.

  2. Check whether the expansion cable is removed or damaged.

    • If the cable is removed, reinsert the expansion cable. If disk status is still Single Path, replace the cable. After the cable is replaced, if disk status is still Single Path, go to step 3.
    • If the cable is damaged, replace it. After the cable is replaced, if disk status is still Single Path, go to step 3.

  3. Check whether the two ends of the expansion cable are connected properly.

    • If yes, go to step 4.
    • If no, connect the expansion cables to the correct ports. If disk status is still Single Path, go to step 4.

  4. Check whether an alarm is generated on the module where the expansion port resides.

    • If yes, handle the alarm. After the alarm is cleared, if disk status is still Single Path, go to step 5.
    • If no, go to step 5.

  5. Replace the disk.

    • For Dorado2100 G2, replace the disk by referring to Replacing a Disk in the chapter of Replacing Parts in the OceanStor Dorado2100 G2 Storage System V100R001 Troubleshooting.
    • For Dorado5100, replace the disk by referring to Replacing a Disk in the chapter of Replacing Parts in the OceanStor Dorado5100 Storage System V100R001 Troubleshooting.
