      • If the network is a switch connection network, go to 5.b.
      • If the network is a direct connection network, go to 5.h.
    2. Check whether the rates of the Fibre Channel host port on the storage system and the switch port connecting to the storage system are the same.
      NOTE:

For details about how to check the rate of a switch port or a Fibre Channel HBA, consult corresponding manufacturers or refer to corresponding manuals.

      • If yes, go to 5.e.
      • If no, go to 5.c.
    3. Adjust Running Rate of the Fibre Channel host port to the same of the switch port.

How to Handle the Problem if the iSCSI Link Is Unavailable

  1. Cause 1: The IP address of the iSCSI host port on the storage device or of the service network port on the application server is incorrect.

    1. Check whether the IP address of the iSCSI host port and that of the service network port can ping to each other.
      • If yes, keep the fault environment intact and contact Huawei technical support.
      • If no, go to 1.b.
    2. Check whether the network is a direct connection network or a switch connection network.
      • If the network is a direct connection network, go to 1.c.
      • If the network is a switch connection network, go to 1.d.
    3. Modify the IP address of the iSCSI host port to make it on the same network segment as that of the service network port, and then go to 1.e.
      NOTE:

You can also modify the IP address of the service network port to be on the same network segment as the IP address of the iSCSI host port.

    4. Add a route between the iSCSI host port and the service network port to enable the communication between the iSCSI host port and application server, and then go to 1.e.
    5. Run the ping command on the application server to check whether the network connection is established. The target address is the IP address of the iSCSI host port on the storage system.
      • If yes, no further action is required.
      • If no, go to 2.

  2. Cause 2: Cables between the application server and the storage system are loose or damaged.

    1. Reinsert or replace the network cables between the storage system and the application server.
    2. After the operation is complete, run the ping command on the application server to check whether the network connection is established. The target IP address is the IP address of the iSCSI host port on the storage system.
      • If yes, go to 2.c.
      • If no, keep the fault environment intact and contact Huawei technical support.
    3. After the operation is complete, check whether the Link indicator of the iSCSI host port is steady green, and whether its Running Status on the ISM is Link Up.
