Viewing Alarms on the ISM

Prerequisites

The maintenance terminal must meet the following requirements before an ISM is installed.

NOTE:

Procedure

  1. Download the ISM.

    1. Run a web browser on your maintenance terminal.
    2. In the address box of the browser, enter the IP address.

XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is the IP address of a controller management network port on the storage device where the ISM is installed. Enter the IP address of the management network port on controller A or controller B to download the ISM software.

    NOTE:
    • When using the IPv6 address of the controller management port on the storage device to download ISM, enter https://[XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX] in the browser.
    • The browser may prompt a message indicating that there is a security certificate issue. Ignore this message and continue the login if the entered IP address is correct.

  2. Optional: Load the Java runtime environment (JRE).

If no applicable JRE version is installed on the maintenance terminal, perform the following steps.

The applicable JRE version for the ISM software is JRE 1.6.0_20. Obtain the JRE installation driver from the storage system delivery-attached ISM CD-ROM. This section describes how to install the JRE on a Windows operating system.

    1. Run the JRE installation package.

The Java Installation-Welcome dialog box is displayed.

    2. Click Install.

The system starts to install the JRE. The installation progress is displayed. After the installation, the Installation Completed dialog box is displayed.

    3. Click Close.

      The JRE is installed.

  3. Install the ISM.

    1. On the main interface, click Click Here to Launch OceanStor ISM.
    2. The system starts to load the ISM software.

When loading is complete, the Select Language dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 1.

    3. Select a language from the Language drop-down list.

The ISM user interface is displayed in the selected language.

    4. Click OK or press Enter.

The ISM welcome page is displayed, as shown in Figure 2.

  4. Log in to the ISM.

    1. On the menu bar, choose System > Discover Device.

The Discover Device dialog box is displayed.

    2. Enter User Name and Password of the device and choose Authentication Mode and Device Type, as shown in Figure 3.

    3. Method of discovering a device.
The ISM provides three device discovery modes. Table 2 describes these modes.
      Table 2 Device discovery methods

      Discovery Method

      Description

      Specifying an IP address

Searches for a storage device using the specified IP address.

      Specifying an IP address segment

Searches for storage devices based on the specified IP address segment. All storage devices in the specified IP address segment will be discovered.

      Same sub-network

Searches for storage devices in the IP address segment of the maintenance terminal where the ISM is installed. For example, if the IP address and subnet mask of the maintenance terminal where the ISM is installed are 129.16.101.14 and 255.255.0.0, all the storage devices in the 129.16.0.0 network segment will be discovered.

      NOTE:

To delete multiple devices on the navigation tree, stop monitoring of the device. Choose Help > Help Topics to view details.

    4. Click OK.

The Task Manager dialog box is displayed indicating the process of device discovery.

  5. View current alarms.

In the upper right corner of ISM, click Critical, Major, or Warning. You can view critical and major alarms and warnings. Figure 4 shows how to view major alarms.
