Checking Whether a Disk Enclosure Has Only One Link
Procedure
Check whether a mini SAS cable and an expansion module
are removed or faulty.
If yes, go to step 2.
If no, go to step 3.
Reinsert or replace the mini SAS cable and the expansion
module, and then log in to the DeviceManager and check whether the
alarm is cleared.
If yes, no further action is required.
If no, go to step 3.
Replace an expansion module.
Wear an ESD wrist strap, ESD gloves, and ESD clothes.
Pull out the mini SAS cables or fabric cables.
Completely raise the latches on the expansion module
in the directions of the arrows and pull out the expansion module,
as shown in steps (1) and (2) in Figure 1.
Figure 1 Pulling out an expansion module
Place the removed expansion module into an ESD bag.
Take the replacement expansion module out of its ESD
bag.
Insert the replacement expansion module into the empty
slot, as shown in step 1 in Figure 2.
Close the latches of the expansion module, as shown
in step (2) in Figure 2.
Figure 2 Installing an expansion module
Insert the mini SAS cables or fabric cables.
View the expansion module power and alarm indicators,
and check whether the expansion module was successfully installed.
If the power indicator is steady on and the alarm indicator is
off, the expansion module is successfully installed.
If the power indicator is off or the alarm indicator is on, the
expansion module has not been installed properly. In this case, remove
and reinsert the expansion module.
After replacing the expansion module, log in to the DeviceManager
to check whether the alarm is cleared.
If yes, no further action is required.
If no, go to step 4.
