Checking and Modifying the iSCSI Initiator Timeout Duration of a Windows Host

This section describes how to check and modify the iSCSI initiator timeout duration of a Windows host.

Upgrade Requirement

For a Windows host, it is strongly recommended that you set the iSCSI initiator timeout duration to 5 seconds before performing an online upgrade.

NOTICE:
  1. This operation may require restarting hosts or stopping services. Exercise caution before performing this operation.
  2. If any exception occurs in command execution during the check or modification process, contact Huawei technical support engineers.

Procedure

  1. Press the key combination "Windows" + "R", enter "regedit" in the pop-up interface, and click OK. Expand the registry entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, click the node whose ID is a number with a plus sign (+) before the node, click Parameters, and check whether LinkDownTime and MaxRequestHoldTime are set to 5. If the two parameters are not set to 5, you cannot perform an online upgrade.

    NOTE:

If the preceding registry key does not exist, iSCSI services are not enabled and no further action is required.

Recommended Actions

NOTICE:

After the upgrade, please restore the timeout parameter to the original value.

  1. Set LinkDownTime and MaxRequestHoldTime to 5. See Figure 1.
