BCManager eReplication Configuration
- Configuration Process
DR protection can be achieved only after eReplication detects resources related to the protected objects.
- Checking BCManager License Files
- Creating a Site
Resources in a DR system are organized in sites. Create a site before creating a protected group.
- Adding Storage Devices
Functions (such as remote replication or snapshot) provided by storage devices are used by eReplication to perform data protection and DR jobs. Before creating protected groups, you need to add storage devices at the production and DR sites to the corresponding site.
- Creating a Proxy
The user cannot connect to the network where the service resides. A proxy needs to be created.
- Creating a Backup Storage Pool
- Creating a Backup Storage Library
- Adding Hosts
If you want to protect applications (such as databases) on a host, you need to add the host for DR protection. This operation instructs the administrators to add hosts to the DR management system on eReplication. The hosts provide necessary resources for DR.
- Adding vCenter Servers
If protected objects are VMware VMs, you need to add vCenter servers to the site.
- Creating a Protected Group
After BCManager eReplication is used to create protected groups for different protected objects and configure backup scheduling policies and copy retention policies as required, it automatically collaborates with functions HyperMetro storage, remote replication, and snapshot to create and retain backup copies.
- Creating a Recovery Plan
On eReplication, you can create a recovery plan based on the protected groups that you have created, and implement one-click DR test, planned migration, and fault recovery based on the recovery plan.
