Checking License Files

eReplication adopts many value-added features of Huawei storage, ensuring data consistency along with the DR process. To use these features, you need to obtain and import the license files of them and eReplication.

Context

Without importing a license, you can use all DR services for the first 90 days. After that, you can only use functions provided by the basic edition.
When the NAS DR technology is used for DR protection and recovery, you need to import the array snapshot license and ransomware detection license to the storage device.

Prerequisites

The anti-ransomware backup (NAS) supports only storage devices of 6.1.6 and later versions, and the storage device model must be 5000 or later. You need to deploy the ProtectManager application on the Air Gap backup storage in advance. You do not need to deploy the ProtectManager application on the primary storage.

Procedure

Check whether the HyperDetect license and array snapshot license have been correctly imported to the storage device based on the DR technology used.
1. Log in to OceanStor DeviceManager.
2. In the navigation tree on the right, click Setting.
3. In the Basic Service Settings area, click License Management.
  The License Management page is displayed.
4. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Activate License.
  In the information display area on the middle, view information about the activated license files to ensure whether licenses for Clone and snapshot are included.
If no license is available, purchase and import a license file. For details, see the license application guide corresponding to the storage device.
Check the licenses for eReplication.
1. Log in to eReplication as a user with management permissions.
2. On the menu bar, choose Settings.
3. In the navigation tree, choose License.
4. In the information display area on the middle, view information about license files to check whether the license files are imported.
  - If yes, no further action is required.
  - If no, go to 2.e.
5. Click Import and select license files to be activated.
  The system automatically checks the format and content of license files. If the check passes, the system automatically activates the imported licenses.

6. After the license files are imported, check whether they are what you apply for.
7. Optional: Click Export. You can save the license files locally for easy backup.
