Before performing an upgrade or adjusting key data, you need to back up configuration data of eReplication to back up database data. If eReplication encounters anomalies, you can use the backup data to implement restoration.
Prerequisites
- If you want to use automatic backup mode, you need to obtain the IP address, username, password, and port of the SFTP backup server.
- If you start manual backup when some tasks are being executed, the status of the backed up tasks may be inconsistent with the actual status of those tasks. You are advised to export system configuration data when no task is being executed.
Context
The system supports automatic and manual backup modes.
- If you want to use automatic backup, you need to prepare an SFTP backup server and configure it in eReplication. After the SFTP backup server is configured, the system automatically backs up system data to the SFTP backup server at 2:00 am (time of the eReplication Server) every day. The SFTP backup server saves the backup data for at most seven days. Data backed up seven days before is cleared automatically. If backup fails, the system reports an alarm. The alarm is automatically cleared if the next backup task is executed successfully. The backup path is as follows:
- Linux: /SFTP user/CloudComputing/DRBackup/eReplication management IP address/YYYY-MM-DD/Auto/ConfigData.zip
- Windows: \CloudComputing\DRBackup\eReplication management IP address\YYYY-MM-DD\Auto\ConfigData.zip
If two eReplication Servers are deployed, ensure that the time of the eReplication Servers at the production and DR sites is the same.
- In manual backup mode, you need to manually export system configuration data to a local path.
When backing up configuration data, you need to back up the data of the production and DR sites.
Procedure
- Enable automatic backup.
- On the menu bar, select Settings.
- In the navigation tree, choose Data Maintenance > System Configuration Data.
- Select Automatic Backup.
Figure 1 System Configuration Data
- Configure the IP address, username, password, and port for the SFTP backup server.
- To protect the security of configuration data, the backup server must adopt the secure SFTP protocol.
- The user entered in Figure 1 has the permission to remotely log in to the SFTP server and create directories on the SFTP server..
- Configure the data encryption password.
This password is used in the compression and encryption of system configuration data to ensure backup data security. You need to keep the password secure. When the system configurations need to be restored after a system fault, the password needs to be used to decrypt the backup system configuration data.
The password complexity requirements are as follows:
- Contains 8 to 15 characters.
- Contains at least one special character from `~!@#$%^&*()-_=+|[{}];:'",<.>/? and cannot contain spaces.
- Must contain at least two of the following types of characters:
- Uppercase letters
- Lowercase letters
- Digits
- Click OK.
- In the Warning dialog box that is displayed, read the content of the dialog box carefully and select I have read and understood the consequences associated with performing this operation.
After automatic backup is enabled, you can update the SFTP server information in eReplication and click OK to save the new information.
- Click OK.
- Manual back up data.
- On the menu bar, select Settings.
- In the navigation tree, choose Data Maintenance > System Configuration Data.
- Select Manual Backup.
- In the Export System Configuration Data area, click Export.
- Configure the data encryption password.
