eReplication adopts many value-added features of Huawei storage, ensuring data consistency along with the DR process. To use these features, you need to obtain and import the license files of them and eReplication.
Context
- Without importing a license, you can use all DR services for the first 90 days. After that, you can only use functions provided by the basic edition.
- If the parallel replication (synchronous and asynchronous), cascading replication (synchronous and asynchronous), parallel replication (asynchronous and asynchronous) or cascading replication (asynchronous and asynchronous) DR is used for DR protection or recovery, licenses for array-based remote replication and array snapshot must be imported to the storage device.
When you perform a DR test, eReplication needs to use the array snapshot feature to create snapshots at the DR site. Therefore, the license for array snapshot must be imported.
- If the integrated backup and DR is adopted, licenses for integrated backup and array snapshot must be imported to storage devices.

- If the HyperMetro (NAS) and asynchronous replication (NAS) DR technologies are used, licenses for array HyperMetro, array-based remote replication, and array SmartMulti-Tenant must be imported to storage devices.
- If the HyperMetro (NAS) and HyperVault (NAS) DR is used for DR protection or recovery, licenses for HyperMetro and integrated backup must be imported to the storage device.
- If the HyperMetro+replication+replication DR technology is used for DR protection and recovery, you need to import the HyperMetro license, remote replication license, and snapshot license of the array to the storage device.
During a DR test, eReplication uses the array snapshot feature to create snapshots at the DR site. Therefore, you need to import the array snapshot license.
Procedure
- Based on the DR technology you use, check whether required licenses (for array-based remote replication, array snapshot, integrated backupor array SmartMulti-Tenant License are imported to the storage devices.
The following operation introduces how to check license files using OceanStor 18500 V5 as an example.
- Log in to OceanStor DeviceManager.
- In the navigation tree on the right, click Setting.
- In the Basic Service Settings area, click License Management.
The License Management page is displayed.
- In the navigation tree on the left, choose Activate License.
In the information display area on the middle, view information about the activated license files to ensure whether licenses for remote replication, snapshot, or integrated backup are included.
If no license is available, purchase and import a license file. For details, see the license application guide corresponding to the storage device.
- Check the licenses for eReplication.
- Log in to eReplication as a user with management permissions.
- On the menu bar, choose Settings.
- In the navigation tree, choose License.
- In the information display area on the middle, view information about license files to check whether the license files are imported.
- If yes, no further action is required.
- If no, go to 2.e.
- Click Import and select license files to be activated.
The system automatically checks the format and content of license files. If the check passes, the system automatically activates the imported licenses.

- After the license files are imported, check whether they are what you apply for.
- Optional: Click Export. You can save the license files locally for easy backup.
