Before configuring disaster recovery (DR) services, check the server environments of the production end and the DR end where NTFS local file systems reside. If the server environments do not meet requirements, modify server configurations.
Check Items of NTFS File Systems
The following check items need to be checked and configured on file systems on the production end.
- On the production end, file systems must be created using simple volumes.
- On the production end, file systems are created on storage array LUNs.
Storage End
Table 1 describes the storage requirements of disaster recovery solutions.

Restriction and Requirement
|
- Cascading replication (synchronous and asynchronous)
- Parallel replication (synchronous and asynchronous)
- Cascading replication (asynchronous and asynchronous)
- Parallel replication (asynchronous and asynchronous)
|
- Before using remote replication to protect objects at the production end, ensure that the remote replication is normal between the production end and the DR end.
- If multiple NTFS file systems are created on the primary LUN of the same remote replication or consistency group (NTFS are created using simple volumes), the NTFS file systems must be created in the same protected group.
- Check the server environment of the DR end. Delete the LUNs mapped to the DR host or test host at the DR end and ensure that the corresponding drive letters are not occupied by other LUNs.
