If all protected objects in a protected group do not require DR protection, you can delete the protected group.
Prerequisites
- Before performing this operation, ensure that the protected group is in neither the Locked nor the Executing state.
- Before performing this operation, ensure that the recovery plan of the protected group has been deleted. Deleting a recovery plan see section Delete a Recovery Plan.
Context
All protected objects in the protected group do not need to be protected.
Procedure
- On the menu bar, select Protection.
- Select the protection type of the protected group to be deleted.
- Select the protected group that you want to delete and choose More > Delete in the operation area.
- If Backup Type of the protected group is set to HyperCDP and Time Period is set to Seconds, the LUN consistency group to which the protected object belongs and the HyperCDP consistency group of the LUN consistency group will not be deleted when you delete a protected group. If you select the protected object and re-create a protected group whose Backup Type is HyperCDP and Time Period is Seconds, the LUN consistency group and HyperCDP consistency group will be reused.
- If Backup Type of the protected group is set to Snapshot and Time Period is set to Seconds, the periodic snapshot generated by the periodic snapshot plan associated with the protected group will not be deleted when you delete a protected group. You can manually delete or retain the snapshot on the storage device.
- In the Warning dialog box that is displayed, read the content of the dialog box carefully and select I have read and understood the consequences associated with performing this operation.
- Click OK.
