Checking a License File

eReplication integrates value-added features of Huawei storage to ensure data consistency during the DR process. Before using value-added features, ensure that you have obtained and imported the licenses of eReplication and value-added features of storage devices.

Context

Without importing a license, you can use all DR services for the first 90 days. After that, you can only use functions provided by the basic edition.
If the protection capacity exceeds the license capacity applied for by eReplication, the system provides the basic edition.
When asynchronous replication (NAS) and snapshot DR technologies are used for DR protection and recovery, you need to import the array remote replication license and array snapshot license to the storage device.

Procedure

Based on the DR technology you use, check whether required licenses (for array remote replication, array snapshot) are imported to the storage devices.
The OceanStor 18500 V5 high-end storage system is used as an example.
1. Log in to DeviceManager.
2. In the navigation tree on the right, click Settings.
3. In the Basic Service Settings area, click License Management.
  The License Management page is displayed.
4. In the navigation tree on the left, select Active License.
  In the information display area on the middle, view information about the activated license file of the storage device and check whether the license file contains the remote replication, snapshot.
If no license is available, purchase and import the required license file. For details, see the license application guide specific to the desired storage device.
Check the license on eReplication.
1. Log in to eReplication as a user with management permissions.
2. On the menu bar, choose Settings.
3. In the navigation tree, choose License.
4. In the information display area on the middle, view information about license files to check whether the desired license file is imported.
  - If yes, no further action is required.
  - If no, go to 2.e.
5. Click Import and select the license file to be activated.
  The system automatically checks the format and content of the license file. If the check is passed, the system automatically activates the imported license.

1. After the license file is imported, check whether it is what you apply for.
2. (Optional) Click Export. You can save the license file locally for easy backup.
