Volume Management

Procedure

This operation can be performed only in Huawei Distributed Block Storage series storage devices.

1. On the menu bar, choose Protection.
2. Select a protected group, and in the details area, click the Protected Object tab.
3. Click Volume Management.
4. In the drop-down list, click Protected, Unprotected, To be released, Releasing, Configuring resources, or To be expanded to view volume information.

   Descriptions of volume management configurations are as follows:

   • Protected: indicates a volume used by production VMs. Its protection relationship with a DR volume has been established. The volume is a protected object and being protected.
   • Unprotected: Volumes are used by a production VM but have no protection relationship with DR volumes. If volumes are added to a protected object, you can refresh the protected group to view information about the unprotected volumes. You need to specify the DR volume type and establish the protection relationship between the DR volumes and the unprotected volumes.
   • To be released: The mapping relationship between a volume with a production VM is removed but its protection relationship with a DR volume is not. If volumes are unmounted from the protected object, you can refresh the protected group to view information about the unused volumes. You need to remove the protection relationship between the unused volumes and DR volumes.
   • Releasing: The protection relationship between the volume and DR volume is being removed. After the protection relationship is removed, the DR resources of the volume are released and the resources are deleted from the configuration information of the protected object.
   • Configuring resources: The protection relationship between the volume and DR volume is being created. After the protection relationship is created, the volume is added to the protected object for protection.
   • To be expanded: The capacity of the production volume is different from that of the DR volume.

5. Click OK.
