Failed to Perform Planned Migration for the Geo-redundant Star Protected Group. The Error is Described As Follows: The Status of the HyperMetro Pair Does Not Meet the Recovery Requirements.

Symptom

Three sites (A, B, and C) form a DR Star. A HyperMetro relationship is established between sites A and B. An asynchronous replication relationship is established between sites A and C, as the Normal asynchronous leg of the DR Star. An asynchronous replication relationship is established between sites B and C, as the Standby asynchronous leg of the DR Star. The VM is migrated from a HyperMetro site (site A) to site C as planned and is under reprotection. On the storage device, the asynchronous replication relationship between sites C and B is manually switched to the Normal asynchronous leg of the DR Star, and the asynchronous replication relationship between sites C and A is also manually switched to the Standby asynchronous leg of the DR Star. After the planned migration is performed on UltraVR, the VM fails to be switched to the HyperMetro site and an error is generated. The error is described as follows: The status of the HyperMetro pair does not meet the recovery requirements.

Procedure

  1. Log in to UltraVR, Click Recovery. Select the failed recovery plan. Click More > Delete, and read the content carefully in the Warning dialog box and click OK.
  2. Click Create on Recovery page. Select the failed protection plans and enter the name of the data recovery plan. Click OK.
  3. Log in to the storage device at site B. Choose Data Protection > DR Star to check whether the Normal asynchronous leg of the DR Star is the Normal asynchronous leg before the DR switchover. If the result shows that they are not the same, right-click DR Star and click Manual Switch from the shortcut menu. In the displayed Warning dialog box, click OK after carefully read the information in the box. If they are the same, contact technical support.
  4. Log in to UltraVR and click Resources to refresh storage resources at sites A, B, and C.
  5. On the menu bar, click Recovery.
  6. Select the recovery plan to be tested, and then click Test in the Operation area. The Test dialog box is displayed. Select parameters in the dialog box and then click Test.
  7. In the displayed Warning dialog box, click OK.
  8. After the test is complete, select the recovery plan whose data needs to be cleared and click More > Clear in the Operation area.
  9. Click OK.
  10. After the test data is cleared, select the recovery plan for planned migration and click Planned Migration in the Operation area. The Planned Migration dialog box is displayed.
  11. Select parameters in the Planned Migration dialog box and click OK.
