What Can I Do If the VRG at the DR Site Encounters an Irrecoverable Fault

Symptom

In a DR scenario where the host-based replication DR technology is used, the VRG at the DR site encounters an irrecoverable fault.

Possible Causes

The VRG VM is faulty.

Procedure

  1. On UltraVR at the production center, delete VMs on the faulty VRG from protected groups.

    1. On the menu bar, select Protection, and specify the protection type of the protected groups to be deleted.
    2. Select a protected group, and in the details area, click the Protected Object tab.
    3. Select the protected objects to be deleted and click Delete in the operation button area.
    4. In the Warning dialog box that is displayed, read the content of the dialog box carefully and select I have read and understood the consequences associated with performing this operation.
    5. Click OK.

  2. On UltraVR at the production center, forcibly delete the VMs of the VRG pair related to the faulty VRG.
  3. Log in to FusionCompute at the DR center and delete the placeholder VM corresponding to the faulty VRG from the DR center.
  4. On UltraVR at the production center, delete the VRG pair of the faulty VRG.
  5. On UltraVR at the production center, delete related FusionSphere resources.

    1. On the menu bar, choose Resources.
    2. In the navigation tree, select the site from which FusionSphere components are to be deleted, and click FusionSphere.
    3. Select FusionCompute, FusionManager, or VRG to be deleted and click More > Delete on the Operation list.
    4. In the Warning dialog box that is displayed, read the content of the dialog box carefully and select I have read and understood the consequences associated with performing this operation.
    5. Click OK.

  6. On UltraVR at the DR center, delete the faulty VRG.

    1. On the menu bar, choose Resources.
    2. In the navigation tree, select the site from which FusionSphere components are to be deleted, and click FusionSphere.
    3. Select FusionCompute, FusionManager, or VRG, and click More > Delete on the Operation list.
    4. In the Warning dialog box that is displayed, read the content of the dialog box carefully and select I have read and understood the consequences associated with performing this operation.
    5. Click OK.

  7. On UltraVR at the production center, add a new VRG pair. For details, see Configuring VRG Pairs.
  8. On UltraVR at the production center, add VMs on the new VRG pair to the protected group.
