Functions provided by eReplication available only after the license of eReplication is imported and activated.
A license is controlled by a license file. A license file defines the application scope, product features, and validity period of features.
eReplication can be used to control host or VM quantity by applying for a license. The description of licenses is as follows:
License quantity is not restricted. You cannot check topologies, perform recovery plans and mounting plan.
If you try to add a host when the number of hosts for DR protection and recovery reaches that authenticated by the license, the host fails to be added.
If you try to create a protected group when the number of counted VMs reaches that authenticated by the license, the protected group fails to be added. The following shows how VMs are counted:
In the container DR scenario, the DR capacity is controlled by the license. If the DR capacity exceeds the license quota, the protected group fails to be created. DR capacity statistics method: Application resources of created protected groups and PV capacity of persistent volumes
The DR capacity of different networks is calculated as follows:
1. If the DR network is local protection, configure the license capacity based on the total capacity of production volumes to be protected.
2. If the DR network is active/standby or active-active, configure the license capacity based on the total capacity of production volumes to be protected.
3. If the DR network is geo-redundancy, configure the license capacity based on the total capacity of production volumes to be protected x 2.
4. If the DR network is 4DC, configure the license capacity based on the total capacity of production volumes to be protected x 3.
Without importing a license, you can use all DR services for the first 90 days. After that, you can only use functions provided by the basic edition.
The system automatically checks the format and content of license files. If the check passes, the system automatically activates the imported licenses.
For details about how to apply for a license and how to control the number of license permissions, see OceanStor BCManager 8.5.1 eReplication License Application Guide (Storage Disaster Recovery).
Click Export. You can save the license files locally for easy backup.
