If the protected objects in a protected group or the involved Kubernetes clusters are changed, you need to refresh the resource information of the protected group.
- The DR administrator can refresh the created protected groups.
- Protected groups can be manually refreshed.
- In a cross-cluster replication scenario, if protection resources change, refresh the protected group to automatically rebuild the protection plan.
Prerequisites
- The protected group is not disabled.
- If a recovery plan is created for a protected group, the protected object can be refreshed only when the recovery plan status is Ready or Reprotection completed.
Context
- Automatically refreshing a protected group
When the data protection solution is data volume cross-cluster active-active (AA) or data volume cross-cluster active-active (AP), protected groups can be manually or automatically refreshed. Protected groups are automatically refreshed in the following scenarios:
- The user uses the storage backend in the active protected domain to create a PVC.
- The user removes the PVC information corresponding to the storage backend from the active protected domain.

Protected Group
Application resources are changed, for example, PVC/POD resources are added, modified, or deleted.
1. A protected group whose protection policy is cross-storage backup for application resources cannot be manually refreshed.
2. When you refresh a protected group whose protected object is application resources, if new resources are added to the application resources and the capacity of the new resources is greater than the remaining capacity of the license, the refresh fails and the status of the protected group is set to Invalid. Manual protection cannot be performed. The existing periodic scheduling policy is not affected. You can delete unnecessary resources or import a license with sufficient capacity to refresh the protected group.
Procedure
- On the menu bar, choose Protection.
- Click the protected group that you want to refresh. In the function pane, choose More > Refresh to refresh information about protected objects in the protected group.
- In the Warning dialog box, select I have read and understood the consequences associated with performing this operation and click OK.
On the shortcut bar in the upper right corner of the main window, click
and view the task execution status in Background Task.
