DR Test in the DR Center

Prerequisites

• The production center communicates with the DR center properly.
• At least one recovery plan has been created on eReplication.
• For details about the storage license requirements for testing the recovery plan, see Checking License Files.
• All check items related to DR environments are passed. For details about the check items, see Checking the DR Environment.
• If application data is automatically replicated by storage arrays instead of being periodically replicated based on the schedule specified upon the protected group creation, the data replication must be stopped before you start the DR test to prevent a possible test failure. You can use either of the following methods to stop data replication in the device management software:
  • When the remote replication pair for the protected applications is in synchronization state and the data is consistent, split the remote replication to stop data replication.
  • Change the remote replication policy to manual synchronization for the protected applications.
• If information about storage devices or hosts is modified at either the production or DR site, manually refresh the information. For details about the change items and operations, see Refreshing Resources Related to a Protected Group.

Context

Data test in the DR center is used to verify data availability.

In a DR test, snapshots at the DR site can only be mapped to the initiators. The port mapping mode is not supported.

The DR test is a major operation. During the DR test, pay attention to the following points:

• Before the test, ensure that the test cluster has been successfully installed and the database user is the same as that of the DR cluster.
• During the DR test, system and service administrators are not allowed to perform any maintenance operation.
• Test data must be cleared before the next DR test.
• After a test is complete, clear the test data as soon as possible. If the environment is recovered after a network failure or eReplication environment shutdown during the test, it is possible that some data cannot be deleted. In this case, you must manually clear the test data, then perform clearing again.

Procedure

1. Log in to eReplication in the DR center.
2. Test a recovery plan.
   1. On the menu bar, select Utilization > Data Restore.
   2. Select the recovery plan to be tested, and then choose More > Test in the Operation area.
   3. Select DR Site.
   4. Select Available DR Hosts or Host Groups.
      

      For flash storage, automatic host adding and storage mapping are provided. Ensure that the storage is connected properly to host initiators. In this manner, the system can automatically create hosts, host groups, LUN groups, and mapping views on the storage. The creation principles are as follows:

      

      1. Click OK.
      2. Carefully read the contents of the Warning dialog box. Then click the check box next to the statement I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation to confirm the information.
      3. Click OK.
      

      If Huawei UltraPath has been installed on the Kylin-based DR host, ensure that I/O suspension time is not 0, and virtual devices generated by UltraPath have corresponding physical devices. For details, see the OceanStor UltraPath for Linux xxx User Guide of the corresponding version.

3. Verify that applications can be started and data read and write operations can be performed. If an application fails to be started or data read and write operations fails to be performed, contact Huawei technical support engineers.
4. Clear the test data at the DR site and restore the resources to the status before the test to facilitate subsequent planned migration or fault recovery.
   

   If information about storage devices or hosts is modified at either the production or DR site, manually refresh the information. For details about the change items and operations, see Refreshing Resources Related to a Protected Group.

   1. Select the recovery plan whose data needs to be cleared, and choose More > Clear in the Operation area.
   2. Click OK.
