Checking a License File

eReplication integrates value-added features of Huawei storage to ensure data consistency during the DR process. Before using value-added features, ensure that you have obtained and imported the licenses of eReplication and value-added features of storage devices.

Context

Without importing a license, you can use all DR services for the first 90 days. After that, you can only use functions provided by the basic edition.
When the synchronous replication (SAN) DR technology is used for DR protection and recovery, licenses for remote replication and array snapshot must be imported to storage devices.
When you perform a DR test, eReplication needs to use the array snapshot feature to create snapshots at the DR site. Therefore, the license for array snapshot must be imported.

Procedure

Based on the DR technology you use, check whether the array remote replication license and array snapshot license have been correctly imported to the storage device.
The OceanStor 18500 V5 high-end storage system is used as an example.
1. Log in to DeviceManager.
2. On the navigation bar, choose Settings > License Management.
3. On the license management page, view information about the activated license file and check whether the license file contains the remote replication or snapshot feature.
  
  If no license is available, purchase and import the required license file. For details, see the license application guide specific to the desired storage device.
Check the license on eReplication.
1. Log in to eReplication as a user with management permissions.
2. On the menu bar, choose Settings > License.
3. In the information display area on the middle, view information about license files to check whether the desired license file is imported.
  - If yes, no further action is required.
  - If no, go to 2.d.
4. Click Import and select the license file to be activated.
  The system automatically checks the format and content of the license file. If the check is passed, the system automatically activates the imported license.

5. After the license file is imported and activated, check whether the imported license file is the same as that applied for.
6. Optional: Click Export. You can save the license files locally for easy backup.
