This section describes how to modify the splitting mode and migration rate of a SmartMove task.
Prerequisites
The running status of a SmartMove pair is Migrating, Paused, or Interrupted.
Procedure
- Choose Resources > Tuning > SmartMove.
- Click More on the right of a desired SmartMove pair and select Modify.
The Modify SmartMove Task page is displayed.
- Set migration properties for the SmartMove task. Table 1 describes related parameters.
Table 1 Migration properties for the SmartMove task
Parameter |
Description |
Splitting Mode |
Splitting mode of the SmartMove pair. Possible values are Automatic and Manual.
- Automatic
After data synchronization is complete, the system automatically performs splitting. After the splitting is complete, the migration is complete.
- Manual
After data synchronization is complete, you need to manually perform splitting. After the splitting is complete, the migration is complete.

Default Migration Rate |
Data migration rate of the SmartMove pair. Possible values are Low, Medium, High, Highest, and Custom.
- Low
Migration takes a relatively long period of time. This value is used when the service load is heavy. The rate is less than or equal to 2 MB/s.
- Medium
Migration takes a relatively short period of time. This value is used when the service load is relatively heavy. The rate is less than or equal to 15 MB/s.
- High
Migration takes a short period of time. This value is used when the service load is relatively light. The rate is less than or equal to 60 MB/s.
- Highest
Migration takes the shortest period of time. This value is used when the service load is light. The rate is less than or equal to 500 MB/s.
NOTE:
- The migration rate is affected by the volume read and write performance and the link bandwidth.
- Higher migration rates impose greater impact on host service performance. If you choose Highest, the SmartMove task may be interrupted due to heavy service load. You are advised to use the highest rate when the host service is not running.
|
- (Optional) Enable Specify Time to specify the migration rate for specified time.
- The migration rate for specified time applies to only the specified period. The migration rate of other periods remains the default. This parameter takes effect only when data is being migrated during the period.
Suppose that, from 2023-03-08 to 2023-04-24, you want to migrate data at a high rate for one hour starting from 23:00 and at the default rate in other periods every day. The parameter settings are as follows:
- Date: 2023-03-08 to 2023-04-24
- Start Time: 23:00
- Duration: 1 hours 0 minutes
- Migration Rate for Specified Time: High
- For details about Migration Rate for Specified Time, see the Default Migration Rate parameter.
- Click OK.
