Creating an On-Access Scan Policy

This section describes how to create a scan policy that is used by antivirus servers to scan CIFS-based shared files for viruses.

Prerequisites

The storage system and antivirus servers are running properly.

Procedure

  1. Choose Settings > Data Security > Antivirus Service > On-Access Scan Policies.
  2. Select a desired account from the Account drop-down list in the upper left corner.
  3. Click Create.

The Create On-Access Scan Policy page is displayed.

  4. Set the scan policy's parameters.

    Table 1 describes related parameters.
    Table 1 Scan policy parameters

    Parameter

    Description

    Name

    Name of the scan policy.

    [Value range]

    • The name contains 1 to 127 characters.
    • The name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.).
    • The name must be unique.

    Period Not Scanned

Period during which antivirus scan is not implemented. You can click Add to set multiple time segments.

    File Type Not Scanned

Type of files that do not require virus scanning. In the File Type Not Scanned text box, enter file name extensions and separate them with commas (,), semicolons (;), or by pressing Enter.

You can enter maximum of 200 file types. A single file type contains 1 to 8 characters, including only letters, digits, asterisks (*), question marks (?), and underscores (_).

    File Path Not Scanned

Path of files that do not require virus scanning. In the File Path Not Scanned text box, enter file paths and separate them with colons (:) or by pressing Enter.

You can enter maximum of 100 file paths. A single file path contains 1 to 1791 characters, must start with a slash (/), and cannot contain special characters: \":|<>*?.

    Largest Scannable File

Select Limit and set a file size. Files whose size is smaller than or equal to the value will be scanned for viruses.

    NOTE:
    • If you do not select Limit, the size of files to be scanned for viruses is not limited.
    • Scanning large files may take a long time, causing the scanning task to time out.

    Timeout (Seconds)

Timeout interval for virus scanning. The default value is 5 seconds.

    Allow Access upon Timeout

Whether to allow file access after virus scanning times out.

    NOTE:

If you do not select this parameter and the Trigger Policy is set to Open/Close a file, files cannot be opened when no antivirus server is available or the scanning task times out.

    Trigger Policy

Policy for triggering virus scanning. The options are as follows:

    • Close a file

Virus scanning is triggered when a CIFS-based shared file is closed.

    • Open/Close a file

Virus scanning is triggered when a CIFS-based shared file is opened or closed.

  5. Click OK.
