A snapshot can be created to generate a copy of the source namespace at the current point in time. A snapshot is available immediately after it is generated, and read operations performed on the snapshot do not affect the data in the source namespace.
Prerequisites
- A namespace has been created.
- Snapshots cannot be created for namespaces configured with compression policies.
Procedure
- Choose Data Protection > Protection Entity > Namespace > Snapshot.
- Select a desired account from the Account drop-down list in the upper left corner.
- Click Create.
The Create Snapshot page is displayed on the right.
- Set snapshot parameters. Table 1 describes related parameters.

Selected Namespaces
Click
on the right of Selected Namespaces, select one or more namespaces for which you want to create snapshots. They will be automatically added to the Selected Namespaces area.NOTE:This parameter is required only when Type is set to Namespace.
Name
Name of the snapshot.
NOTE:- The name contains 1 to 255 characters.
- The name can contain only letters, digits, and underscores (_), and must start with a letter.
- Create a secure snapshot.
Initialize the WORM clock before enabling the secure snapshot function.
The secure snapshot function ensures that the snapshot enters the protection state according to the settings after being created. During the protection period, the snapshot cannot be deleted but can be read for multiple times.

Protection Period
Protection period of the secure snapshot. Within the protection period, the secure snapshot cannot be deleted.

- If you set by day, the value ranges from 1 to 7300.
- If you set by month, the value ranges from 1 to 240.
- If you set by year, the value ranges from 1 to 20.

Auto Deletion
After this function is enabled, the system automatically deletes the snapshot after the protection period expires.
NOTE:Before enabling this function, ensure that the snapshot no longer requires protection after the protection period expires and can be automatically deleted by the system.
