Enabling LLDP

This section describes how to enable LLDP for a node.

Context

LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) is a Layer 2 link discovery protocol. By enabling LLDP, users can obtain Layer 2 information about all devices connected to the cluster. This helps expand the network management scale and obtain more detailed network topology information and changes. LLDP also helps users discover inappropriate configurations on the network and report the configurations to the network administrator for elimination in a timely manner.

Precautions

Performing this operation on DeviceManager will enable LLDP for all storage and management nodes.

When RoCE networking is used, LLDP cannot be enabled. Otherwise, network connectivity problems may occur.

Procedure

  1. Choose Cluster > Cluster > Hardware.
  2. In the lower part of the function pane, click Link Discovery.

The Link Discovery page is displayed.

  3. In the LLDP Link Discovery Status area, check whether the current protocol is enabled.

    • Enabled: LLDP is enabled on all storage and management nodes.
    • Disabled: LLDP is disabled on all storage and management nodes.
    • Partially disabled: LLD is disabled on some storage and management nodes.

  4. Click Enable to enable LLDP on all storage and management nodes.
  5. (Optional) If LLDP fails to be enabled on any node, click Details to view the node and failure details.
