Creating a SmartQoS Policy

This section describes how to create a QoS policy.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resources > Tuning > SmartQoS > General.
  2. Click Create.

The Create QoS Policy page is displayed.

  3. Set a QoS policy name.

    • The name must be unique.
    • The value can contain only digits, letters, hyphens (-), and underscores (_), and must start with a digit or letter.
    • The name contains 1 to 63 characters.

  4. Select a QoS policy mode. Possible options are:

    • Disable QoS

      The SmartQoS feature is disabled.

    • By namespace usage

In this mode, the storage system dynamically calculates the maximum bandwidth based on the used capacity of the namespace (Maximum bandwidth = Basic bandwidth + Namespace used capacity x Bandwidth density). For other parameters, their default values are used.

    • By global configuration

      Use the default parameter values.

    • By storage package

Set Storage Package Capacity, in GB. In this mode, the storage system calculates the maximum bandwidth based on the used namespace capacity and storage package capacity (Maximum bandwidth = Basic bandwidth + max (Used namespace capacity, Storage package capacity) x Bandwidth density). For other parameters, their default values are used.

    • By specified value

Manually set the QoS upper limits, including the maximum OPS and maximum bandwidth. For other QoS policy parameters, the default values are used.

      Table 1 describes related parameters.

Table 1 QoS upper limit parameters

      Parameter

      Description

      Max. OPS

Indicates the maximum read/write operations that can be performed on a single namespace per second, in I/O/s.

      Max. Bandwidth

Indicates the maximum amount of I/O data that can be processed by a single namespace per second, in MB/s.

If you select By namespace usage, By global configuration, or By storage package in QoS Policy Mode, you can click Modify in Default QoS Policy Parameters to modify the default QoS policy parameters. For details about the parameters, see Setting Default QoS Policy Parameters.

  5. Click OK.
