Creating a Snapshot

After a snapshot is created for a source volume, a data copy consistent with the source volume is generated. The copy can be read by hosts without affecting its source data.

Prerequisites

No other features enabled on the source volume conflict with the snapshot feature.

Procedure

  1. Choose Data Protection > Protection Entity > Volume > Snapshot.
  2. Click Create.

    The Create Snapshot page is displayed on the right.

  3. Configure snapshot parameters.

    1. Select a volume for which you want to create a snapshot.
    2. Set the snapshot name.
      • The name must be unique.
      • The name can contain letters, digits, underscores (_), and hyphens (-).
      • The name contains 1 to 95 characters.
    3. Click OK.
