Creating a PE

Context

PEs are only used by VVols in VMware software-defined storage. VVols provide storage resources at the VM granularity. A PE is used as an I/O distributor to simplify the connection between a VM and a VVol. I/Os from a VM are sent to the VVol through a PE.

Procedure

1. Choose Resources > Resources > VVol > PE.
2. Select the desired account from the Account drop-down list in the upper left corner.
3. Click Create.

   The Create PE page is displayed on the right.

4. Set the PE parameters.

   Table 1 describes related parameters.

   Table 1 PE parameters

   Parameter	Description
   Name	Indicates the name of the PE. [Value range] The name must be unique. The name contains only letters, digits, underscores (_), and hyphens (-). The name contains 1 to 95 characters.
   Quantity	Indicates the number of PEs created in a batch. Set this parameter based on site requirements. [Value range] 1 to 64
   Map To	Select the host or host group to which the PEs are mapped. NOTE: You can click Create to create a host or host group.

5. Click OK.

   Confirm your operation as prompted.
