Creating a Snapshot

A snapshot can be created to generate a copy of the source dtree at the current point in time. A snapshot is available immediately after it is created. Read operations on the snapshot does not affect the data in the source dtree.

Prerequisites

A namespace and a dtree have been created.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resources > Resources > Dtree.
  2. Select a desired account from the Account drop-down list in the upper left corner.
  3. Select an owning namespace and then a desired dtree, and click Protection > Create Snapshot.

The Create Snapshot page is displayed.

You can also click More on the right of a desired dtree and select Create Snapshot.

  4. On the Dtree tab page, select an owning namespace and then desired dtrees for which you want to create a snapshot.
  5. Set the snapshot name.

    • The name must be unique.
    • The name contains 1 to 255 characters.
    • The name can contain only letters, digits, and underscores (_), and must start with a letter.

  6. Create a secure snapshot.

Initialize the WORM clock before enabling the secure snapshot function.

The secure snapshot function ensures that the snapshot enters the protection state according to the settings after being created. During the protection period, the snapshot cannot be deleted but can be read for multiple times.

    Table 1 describes related parameters.
