This section describes how to modify basic information, such as the path switchover mode, of a host.
Procedure
- Choose Resources > Access > Host > Host.
- Select a desired account from the Account drop-down list in the upper left corner.
- Click More on the right of a desired host and select Modify.
The Modify Host page is displayed.
- Set Switchover Mode. Possible options are Disable ALUA and Enable ALUA.
- ALUA is a model that supports access to multiple target ports. In the multipathing state, the ALUA mode presents active/passive volumes to the host and provides a port access status switchover interface to switch over the working controllers for volumes. For example, when a volume of a controller fails, you can set the status of ports on the controller to unavailable. After the host multipathing software that supports ALUA detects the status, it switches subsequent I/Os from the failed controller to the peer controller.
- In non-HyperMetro scenarios, the storage system is in active/active mode. You are advised to set Switchover Mode to Disable ALUA.
- In HyperMetro scenarios, if both sites provide services at the same time, you are advised to set Switchover Mode to Disable ALUA.
- In HyperMetro scenarios, if only one site provides services, you are advised to set Switchover Mode to Enable ALUA for the site that provides services.
- Set the IP address of the host.
If a host is connected over iSCSI links, enter the service IP address of the host for easy management and search.
- Set the operating system type of the host. Possible values are Linux, Windows, Oracle, VMware, and XenServer.
The selected operating system type must be the same as that of the application server connected to the storage system.
- Click OK.
- Confirm your operation as prompted.
