Adding a Heterogeneous Device

This section describes how to interconnect the storage system with a heterogeneous device.

Prerequisites

Precautions

The heterogeneous device must not be the local cluster.

Procedure

  1. Choose Cluster > Cluster > Heterogeneous Device.
  2. Click Add.

The Add Heterogeneous Device page is displayed on the right.

  3. Set basic information about the heterogeneous device. For details about related parameters, see Table 1.

Table 1 Basic information about the heterogeneous device

    Parameter

    Description

    Heterogeneous Device Name

    Name of the heterogeneous device.

    [Value range]

    • The name contains 1 to 128 characters.
    • The heterogeneous device name can contain letters, digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_). It must start with a letter and cannot end with a hyphen (-) or underscore (_).

    Device Type

Type of the heterogeneous device. The value can be Blu-ray or Non-Blu-ray. Blu-ray refers to the Blu-ray storage device. For other devices, select Non-Blu-ray.

  4. Configure access information about the heterogeneous device. Table 2 describes related parameters.

You need to configure access information about the heterogeneous device only when the device type is Blu-ray.

Table 2 Access information about the heterogeneous device

    Parameter

    Description

    Device Login URL

URL for logging in to the management system of the heterogeneous device. After entering the URL, click Test to check whether the URL is available.

    [Value range]

    • Address format: IPv4/[IPv6]/Domain name:Port
    • You can enter an IPv4 address, IPv6 address, or domain name. An IPv6 address must be enclosed in square brackets ([]), for example, [fc00::1234]. A domain name contains 3 to 253 characters, including lowercase letters, digits, and hyphens (-) and cannot start or end with a hyphen (-). The domain name must contain a second-level domain name. Each subdomain name contains 1 to 63 characters and is separated from each other using periods (.). The top-level domain name cannot contain digits only.
    • Special IP addresses 0.0.0.0, 224-255.*.*.*, ::, ::1, FF00::/8, and FE80::/10 are not allowed.
    • Port ranges from 1 to 65535 and is optional.

    Device Management IP Address

Management IP address of the heterogeneous device.

    Username

User name for logging in to the management system of the heterogeneous device.

    NOTE:

You are advised to log in to the management system as an administrator, so that you can view the resource information of the device. If you log in to the management system as a common user, you do not have the permission to view the resource information of the device.

    Password

Password of the entered user name for logging in to the management system of the heterogeneous device.

    NOTE:

After entering the device management IP address, user name, and password, click Verify to check whether the information is available. If the device management IP address, user name, or password is modified, you need to perform the verification again.

    Access CA Certificate

If you select Verify Device Identity Certificate, you need to import an access CA certificate to interconnect the storage system with the heterogeneous device. To ensure interconnection security, you are advised to import an access CA certificate.

    NOTICE:

If you want to add multiple heterogeneous devices with the same management IP address, import the same access CA certificate for each heterogeneous device. Otherwise, a verification exception may occur, and device details cannot be obtained.

    NOTE:

You can also import a CA certificate after the heterogeneous device is added by choosing Settings > Certificate > Certificate Management and selecting Heterogeneous device access certificate.

    Verify Device Identity Certificate

Whether to verify the device identity security certificate. To ensure interconnection security, you are advised to enable this function.

  5. Set the service information about the heterogeneous device. Table 3 describes related parameters.

Table 3 Service information about the heterogeneous device

    Parameter

    Description

    URL

Service IP address of the heterogeneous device.

    • Special IP addresses 0.0.0.0, 224-255.*.*.*, ::, ::1, FF00::/8, and FE80::/10 are not allowed.
    • Port ranges from 1 to 65535 and is optional.
    NOTE:
    • If the heterogeneous device is a Blu-ray storage device and Verify Device Identity Certificate is selected, you need to enter the domain name of the Blu-ray storage device.

    Protocol

Access protocol of the heterogeneous device. Possible options are HTTPS or HTTP.

    NOTE:
    • HTTP has security risks. HTTPS is recommended.
    • If the heterogeneous device is a Blu-ray storage device, only HTTPS is supported.

    Service CA Certificate

If you select Verify Device Identity Certificate, import a service CA certificate and wait until the certificate update is complete. The heterogeneous device is unavailable before the certificate update is complete. The interconnection between the storage system and the heterogeneous device can be completed only after the certificate update is complete. You can choose Monitor > Alarms and Events to check whether the certificate is updated. To ensure secure interconnection, you are advised to import a service CA certificate.

    NOTE:
    • This parameter is displayed only when Protocol is set to HTTPS.
    • You can also import a CA certificate after the heterogeneous device is added by choosing Settings > Certificate > Certificate Management and selecting Heterogeneous device service certificate.

    Verify Device Identity Certificate

Whether to verify the device identity security certificate. To ensure interconnection security, you are advised to enable this function.

    NOTE:

This parameter is displayed only when Protocol is set to HTTPS.

    AK Alias

Alias of the user for accessing heterogeneous device services. If this parameter is left blank, the value of AK will be used by default.

    AK

AK of the heterogeneous device account or object user that interconnects with the storage system. The account or object user must have the read, write, and delete permissions for all objects in the bucket of the heterogeneous device.

    SK

SK of the heterogeneous device account or object user that interconnects with the storage system. The account or object user must have the read, write, and delete permissions for all objects in the bucket of the heterogeneous device.

    Authentication

Set this parameter based on the current authentication mode of the heterogeneous device. The value can be V2 or V4.

    Region

Name of the region where the bucket that provides services on the heterogeneous device resides.

    NOTE:

This parameter is mandatory only when Authentication is set to V4.

    [Value range]

    • The value contains 1 to 128 characters.
    • The value can contain letters, digits, and hyphens (-), and must start with a letter and cannot end with a hyphen (-).

  6. Optional: In the QoS Policy area, set Max. Bandwidth (MB/s) and OPS Upper Limit for the heterogeneous device. The maximum bandwidth ranges from 1 MB/s to 1073741824 MB/s, and the OPS upper limit ranges from 1 to 500000.
  7. Click OK.
