Adding a Remote Device

This section describes how to establish a logical connection between a local device and a remote device for data transmission.

Prerequisites

The local and remote devices communicate properly.

Procedure

  1. Choose Data Protection > Configuration > Replication Cluster.
  2. Click More on the right of a desired replication cluster and select Add Remote Device.

The Add Remote Device page is displayed.

You can also click the name of the desired replication cluster to go to the cluster details page and select the Remote Devices tab.

  3. Set parameters for the remote device. Table 1 describes related parameters.

    Table 1 Remote device parameters

    Parameter

    Description

    Local Device Replication IP Address

Replication network IP address of the local device.

    NOTE:

You can select any replication network IP address of the local device. After the initial connection is complete, the system automatically connects all replication links between the local and remote devices.

    Remote Device Replication IP Address

Replication network IP address of the remote device.

    NOTE:

If there are multiple remote devices, select any of them.

    Pre-Shared Key Label

Identifies the pre-shared key of a cluster.

    NOTE:

Enter the pre-shared key label of a remote replication cluster.

    Pre-Shared Key

Implements identity authentication. This parameter functions together with Pre-Shared Key Label.

    NOTE:

Enter the pre-shared key of a remote replication cluster.

  4. Click OK.

Follow-up Procedure

After the remote device is added, check whether the number of connections on each node is correct. You can run diagnose command ngw showlink to check whether the number of connections on each node is equal to the total number of connections. For details about the command, see DR Feature Maintenance Commands > Usage Instruction of Diagnose Commands > Querying a Link in the OceanStor Pacific Series8.1.18.1.28.1.38.1.58.1.68.2.08.2.1 Maintenance Command ReferenceDR Feature Maintenance Commands > Usage Instruction of Diagnose Commands > Querying a Link in the maintenance command reference of the corresponding version.

Number of connections between the local device and a single remote device = (Number of local replication nodes x Number of IP addresses configured for each node) x (Number of remote replication nodes x Number of IP addresses configured for each node). The total number of connections is the sum of connections between the local device and all remote devices.
