This section describes how to change the security level of a disk pool from Node to Cabinet.
Prerequisites
- The status of the disk pool is Normal and the security level is Node.
- For an EC storage pool, the number of cabinets must be greater than or equal to (N + M)/M (rounded up), where N indicates the number of data blocks and M indicates the number of parity blocks. For a three-copy storage pool, the number of cabinets must be greater than or equal to 3.
- The number of nodes in each cabinet must be greater than or equal to 3.
- The difference between the number of nodes in different cabinets must be less than or equal to 1.
Precautions
- In the process of switching the security level to Cabinet, if the total available physical capacity decreases by more than 3%, DeviceManager will display a high-risk dialog box. If you ignore this message, switching the security level to Cabinet will succeed. Otherwise, the operation will fail.
- In the process of switching the security level to Cabinet, the available capacity of the storage pool will temporarily increase. After the security level switching is complete, the available capacity of the storage pool will be restored to the original status.
- In the process of switching the security level to Cabinet, capacity reduction and upgrade cannot be performed, and capacity expansion is not supported by default. If capacity expansion is required, see Expanding the Capacity of a Disk Pool During Security Level Improvement in the Capacity Expansion and Reduction Guide of the corresponding version.
- After the security level is successfully switched to Cabinet, the available capacity of the storage pool may decrease.
- After the security level is successfully switched to Cabinet, it cannot be switched back to Node.
- If the requirements for switching the security level are not met, preferentially adjust the management nodes and control cluster nodes to ensure that they are distributed in different cabinets.
Procedure
- Choose Resources > Resources > Storage Pool.
- Click the name of a desired storage pool. On the page that is displayed, click the Disk Pool tab.
- Click More on the right of a disk pool with the security level to be modified and select Modify Security Level.
The Modify Security Level page is displayed.
- Optional: If the number of cabinets does not meet the requirements for switching the security level, change the cabinets where nodes reside.
- Click More on the right of a desired node and select Modify.
The Modify Node Information page is displayed.
- Change the value of Cabinet based on the actual physical cabinet number of the node.
- Click OK.
- Confirm your operation as prompted.
- In the Security Level area, modify the security level of the disk pool.
- Click OK.
