Creating a Host Group

A host group is a collection of multiple hosts. Before mapping a volume or a group of volumes to multiple hosts, you need to create a host group and add the hosts to the host group.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resources > Access > Host Group.
  2. Select a desired account from the Account drop-down list in the upper left corner.
  3. Click Create.

The Create Host Group page is displayed.

  4. Set the name of the host group.

    • The name must be unique.
    • The name contains 1 to 31 characters.
    • The name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), periods (.), and colons (:), and must start with a letter, digit, or underscore (_).

  5. Select the hosts you want to add to the host group.

In the Available Hosts area, select one or more hosts. They will be automatically added to the Selected Hosts area on the right.

If hosts to be added into the host group belong to different clusters, data access conflict may occur, resulting in data loss. Before performing this operation, you are advised to install cluster software to manage such hosts.

  6. Click OK.
  7. Confirm your operation as prompted.
