Modifying a Snapshot Schedule

This section describes how to modify the name, description, and execution policy of a snapshot schedule.

Prerequisites

A snapshot schedule has been created, and its status is disabled.

Procedure

  1. Choose Data Protection > Plans > Snapshot Schedule > Schedule.
  2. Select a desired account from the Account drop-down list in the upper left corner.
  3. Click More on the right of a desired snapshot schedule and select Modify.

The Modify Snapshot Schedule page is displayed.

  4. Modify the basic information about the snapshot schedule.

    Table 1 describes related parameters.

Table 1 Basic parameters of a snapshot schedule

    Parameter

    Description

    Name

    Name of the snapshot schedule.

    NOTE:
    • The name must not be empty and must be unique.
    • The name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), periods (.), and hyphens (-).
    • The name can contain 1 to 255 characters.

    Description

    Description of the snapshot schedule.

    NOTE:

The value can be left blank or contain up to 255 characters.

  5. Set an execution policy for the snapshot schedule based on service requirements.

The storage system supports four configuration modes, which can be executed concurrently.

    • Create scheduled snapshots based on a fixed period.
      1. Set a fixed period.
        • If you set the schedule by hour, the value ranges from 1 to 24. By default, the snapshot schedule is executed every hour.
        • If you set the schedule by minute, the value ranges from 60 to 1440.
      2. Determine whether to set the secure snapshot properties for the snapshot schedule. After the secure snapshot function is enabled, it takes effect for all snapshots created by the snapshot schedule.

Initialize the WORM clock before enabling the secure snapshot function.

The secure snapshot function ensures that, after a scheduled snapshot is created, it enters the protection state and cannot be deleted. However, it can be read for multiple times.

        Table 2 describes related parameters.

Table 2 Secure snapshot properties of the snapshot schedule

        Parameter

        Description

        Protection Period

Protection period of a scheduled snapshot. Snapshots within the protection period cannot be deleted.

        [Value range]

        • If you set by day, the value ranges from 1 to 7300.
        • If you set by month, the value ranges from 1 to 240.
        • If you set by year, the value ranges from 1 to 20.

        [Default value]

        1 day

        Auto Deletion

After this function is enabled, the system automatically deletes the scheduled snapshots after the protection period expires.

        NOTE:

Before enabling this function, ensure that the scheduled snapshots no longer require protection after the protection period expires and can be automatically deleted by the system.

        [Default value]

        Disabled

      3. In the Retention Policy area, set a retention policy for scheduled snapshots. You can set either a retention period or the number of objects you want to retain.
        • Retain For

In this area, you can set a retention period for scheduled snapshots. The value must be an integral multiple of the fixed period.

        • Retained Objects

In this area, you can set the number of snapshots to be retained for each member in the snapshot schedule. The value ranges from 1 to 4096.

        • You do not need to set Retain For and Retained Objects simultaneously. Because once you set one parameter, the system will automatically calculate the value of the other parameter.
        • If Secure Snapshot is enabled, the Retention Policy parameter is not displayed.
    • Create scheduled snapshots at specified time points every day.

      2. Set the time points at which the snapshot schedule is executed every day. The value ranges from 00:00 to 23:59 in the time zone where the storage device is located.
      3. In Retained Objects per Member, set the number of snapshots to be retained for a single member in the snapshot schedule. The value ranges from 1 to 256.

If Secure Snapshot is enabled, Retained Objects per Member is not displayed.

    • Create scheduled snapshots at specified time points every week.
