Monitoring System Performance

You can learn about the running status of the storage system by viewing the real-time monitoring data of each performance metric and the working status and basic information of a specified object.

Precautions

The performance statistics of the storage system are inaccurate or cannot be viewed in the following scenarios:
  • The management network of a node is faulty.
  • The time or time zone of nodes in the cluster is inconsistent.
  • There is node time hopping in the cluster.
  • The management IP address is modified.
  • The Internal system service security certificate is being replaced (after the certificate is activated and before the update is complete).
  • Any node is restarted or the storage software is upgraded, leading to restart of the performance monitoring process.

Procedure

  1. Choose Monitor > Performance Monitoring > Analysis.
  2. If you want to monitor the performance of a remote replication pair, select the desired account from the Account drop-down list in the upper left corner.

    • This operation is required only for converged services.
    • The system selects an account by default to monitor the performance of objects excluding the remote replication pair, which does not affect the monitoring result.

  3. Create a chart.

    1. Click Create.

The Create Chart page is displayed on the right.

    2. Configure the chart information. Table 1 describes related parameters.
      Table 1 Chart parameters

      Parameter

      Description

      Chart Name

      Name of the chart.

      [Value range]

      • The name contains 1 to 31 characters.
      • The name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.).

      Time Period

      Monitoring time period.

      [Value range]

      • Last 1 hour
      • Last 24 hours
      • Last 7 days
      • Last 3 months
      • Last 6 months
      • Custom

      Chart Display Mode

      Display mode of the chart.

      • One metric for multiple objects: The vertical coordinate indicates a statistical metric. The metric statistics of multiple objects are displayed in one chart.
      • Multiple metrics for one object: The vertical coordinate indicates an object. Statistics of multiple metrics of the object are displayed in one chart.

      Object Type

Type of an object to be monitored. Modes of filtering objects for which performance statistics are to be collected are as follows:
      • Custom
      • Top: sorts out top N objects of a specified type by a performance metric. Value of N in Top N:

        [Value range]

        1 to 50

        [Default value]

        8

      NOTE:
      • When Object Type is set to Volume, you can select a desired storage pool and sort out top N objects of the specified type by a performance metric.

      Object Instance

Click Select to select the object instances to be monitored.

      NOTE:
      • You do not need to select object instances when Object Type is set to Cluster.
      • When the name of an object instance changes, the name of the object instance in the created chart is not updated synchronously. To update the name of the object instance, you need to create a chart again.

      Statistical Metric

Statistical metrics to be monitored. For details about the definition and meaning of each metric, see Performance Metrics.

      NOTE:

If you need to select the statistical metrics of a service, enable the service first.
