Creating a HyperMetro Domain

After configuring a remote device and a quorum server, you need to create a HyperMetro domain for the remote and local devices, and the quorum server. When creating a HyperMetro domain, determine the relationships among the local device, remote device, and quorum server in the domain.

Prerequisites

At least one remote device has been added to the storage system.

Context

Procedure

  1. Choose Data Protection > Block Protection > HyperMetro Domain.
  2. Click Create.

The Create HyperMetro Domain page is displayed.

  3. Set Name of the HyperMetro domain.

    • The name must be unique.
    • The name contains 1 to 31 characters.
    • The name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.), and must start with a letter or digit.

  4. Select a quorum mode.

    • Quorum server
      1. In the Remote Device area, select a remote device that you want to add to the HyperMetro domain.
      2. In the Quorum Server area, select a quorum server that you want to add to the HyperMetro domain.

If there is no quorum server in the system, choose Data Protection > Block Protection > Quorum Server to create a quorum server.

    • Static priority

In the Remote Device area, select a remote device that you want to add to the HyperMetro domain.

      • You are advised to configure quorum servers.
      • If no quorum server is configured, when the preferred site is faulty, the non-preferred site cannot automatically take over HyperMetro services. As a result, the services stop and you need to forcibly start the non-preferred site to provide services for the host.
      • If you want to add the quorum server subsequently, modify the HyperMetro domain to add it.

  5. Click OK.
