Creating CHAP Authentication

To ensure the security of storage devices, you can configure CHAP authentication to restrict application servers' access permissions on storage devices.

Procedure

  1. Choose Services > Block Service > Host > CHAP Authentication.
  2. Click Create.

    The Create CHAP Authentication page is displayed.

  3. Set the name of the CHAP authentication.

    • The name must be unique.
    • The name must contain 4 to 127 characters.
    • The name contains digits, letters, underscores (_), periods (.), colons (:), and hyphens (-), and must start with a letter or underscore (_).

  4. Set the password for CHAP authentication and confirm the password.

    • The password cannot start with a hyphen (-).
    • The password contains 12 to 16 characters.
    • The password must contain two of the following character types: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and special characters, including ' ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) - _ = + \ | [ { } ] ; : " , < . > / ?.

  5. Set Authentication Direction. Possible options are Target authenticating initiator and Initiator authenticating target.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Confirm your operation as prompted.
