The section describes how to configure the LDAP and NIS services.
Managing LDAP Services
To centrally manage user information, DeviceManager allows users to log in to the storage system in Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server authentication mode. If an LDAP domain server is deployed on a customer's network, a storage device must join the LDAP domain. Then, NFS clients need to be authenticated by the LDAP domain server when they attempt to access shared resources on the storage device.
Managing NIS Services
If an NIS server is deployed on a user's network, a storage device must join the NIS domain. Then, NFS clients need to be authenticated by the NIS server when they attempt to access shared resources on the storage device.
Managing AD Services
If an AD domain server is deployed on a customer's network, a storage device must join the AD domain. Then, CIFS clients need to be authenticated by the AD domain server when they attempt to access shared resources on the storage device. The administrator can manage the share access permissions and quotas of domain users. If the storage device does not join an AD domain, domain users cannot use share services provided by the storage device.
