Creating a DPC Node Using a New Node

This operation enables you to create a DPC compute node.

Procedure

  1. Choose Services > File Service > DPC.
  2. Click Create DPC and select New Node.

The Create DPC page is displayed.

If no DPC node has been created in the system, clicking Create DPC directly enters the Create DPC page.

  3. Click Batch Import Node or Manually Add Node to add nodes.

    • Batch Import Node

Click Download the template to download the template. Fill information about the nodes to be added in the template and save it locally. Click , select the template, and click Upload. The nodes are imported to the system in a batch.

    • Manually Add Node
      1. Set parameters for a node. Table 1 describes related parameters.
        Table 1 Node parameters

        Parameter

        Description

        Management IP Address

Indicates the management IP address of the node.

        Cabinet

Indicates the cabinet where the node resides.

        Node Name

Indicates the name of the node.

        Chassis

Indicates the chassis where the node resides.

        Slot

Indicates the slot number where the node resides.

        Node Model

Indicates the model of the server where the node resides.

        Node Role

Indicates the role of the node. DPC compute is automatically selected.

        Installation Mode

Indicates the installation mode of the node. Possible options are Regular installation and Pre-installation. If you select Regular installation, set Username, Password, and Password of root for authentication.

        NOTE:

Select Pre-installation when the DPC software has been pre-installed for compute nodes during the file service installation.

        Username

Indicates the user name used for logging in to the DPC node.

        Password

Indicates the password used for logging in to the DPC node.

        Password of root

Indicates the password of user root of the DPC node.

        NOTE:

If you log in to the DPC node as a non-root user, you need to enter the password of user root.

      2. Click OK to add the node to the list.
        • For batch imported nodes, you can perform the subsequent operations only after authenticating them. That is, select the nodes, click Authenticate, set the installation mode, and perform the authentication.
        • You can click More on the right of a node and select Modify or Delete to modify or delete it.
        • You can also select a manually added node and click Authenticate to authenticate the node again.
      3. Select one or more nodes and click Configure DPC Memory Quota. On the Configure DPC Memory Quota page that is displayed, select the DPC memory size of the nodes. Possible options are 8 GB, 12 GB, 16 GB, and 24 GB. Select a value based on site requirements.
        • The recommended value is 8 GB.
        • A node's DPC memory must be less than or equal to its physical memory.
      4. Click Submit to configure the node and install the network management components.
        • If the configuration fails or the network management components fail to be installed, click Restore Factory Settings to delete data.
        • After the operation is successful, you can click More on the right of a node and select Log Details to view its operation logs.
      5. Click Next.

  4. Configure the storage network.

    1. Determine whether to select Yes or No in Use Configured Storage IP Address Only. If you select Yes, the system only allocates configured storage IP addresses in the specified IP address range to the nodes. To select this option, all nodes must be configured with storage IP addresses in advance.
      Table 2 describes related parameters.
      Table 2 Storage network parameters

      Parameter

      Description

      IP Address Range

Indicates the IP address range of the storage network.

      NOTE:
      • A 32-bit IPv4 address is divided into four 8-bit fields that are expressed in dotted decimal notation.
      • Each field of the IPv4 address cannot be left empty and must be an integer.
      • The value of the leftmost field ranges from 1 to 223 (excluding 127).
      • The values of the other fields range from 0 to 255.
      • An IPv4 address cannot be set to a special address such as a broadcast address.
      • Example: 192.168.1.100

      Mask/Prefix

Indicates the subnet mask of the storage IP addresses and identifies the subnet to which the IP addresses belong.

You can click to configure multiple IP address ranges.

    2. Click Preview.

The system automatically configures the storage IP addresses to the nodes and refreshes the network information in the lower part of the page.

      • After modifying the network configurations, if you do not click Preview, you can click Reset to restore to the previous previewed network information.
      • You can click More on the right of a node and select Manage Bond Port to manage bond ports of the node.
      • If you select No in Use Configured Storage IP Address Only, you can click More on the right of a node and select Modify to modify the node's storage IP address and port.
    3. Click Submit.
    4. After the storage network is configured successfully, click Next.

  5. Install nodes.

    1. (Optional) If the installation fails, you can click Restore Factory Settings to re-configure the nodes.
    2. Click Install.
    3. (Optional) After the installation is successful, you can expand the capacities of the storage pool, replication cluster, and iSCSI service.
    4. Click Finish.
