Creating a HyperMetro Pair

This section describes how to define HyperMetro relationships and data synchronization properties between the storage resources on two storage systems, achieving active-active storage. In the event of a disaster, the arbitration mechanism of HyperMetro determines the site that can continue providing storage services to implement DR.

Prerequisites

The local and remote devices work normally to communicate with each other.
These devices must support the HyperMetro feature.
The remote volume of the HyperMetro pair is not mapped to a host.
The local and remote volumes are not configured with features that are mutually exclusive with HyperMetro.

Procedure

Choose Data Protection > Block Protection > HyperMetro Pair.
Click Create.
The Create HyperMetro Pair dialog box is displayed.
Configure the basic information for the HyperMetro pair.
1. In HyperMetro Domain, select a HyperMetro domain where the HyperMetro pair resides.
2. Optional: In HyperMetro Consistency Group, select a consistency group to which the HyperMetro pair is to be added.
  
  You need to select a HyperMetro CG only when Initial Synchronization is set to Local and remote data is inconsistent. Data is automatically synchronized after creation. or Local and remote data is inconsistent. Manually synchronize data after creation..
3. In Initial Synchronization, determine the desired initial synchronization mode.

Select the local and remote resources of the HyperMetro pair.

In Select Resource, select the local resource as required and enter the remote resource ID.

Log in to the remote device, choose Services > Block Service > Volume, click , select the desired resource ID, and check the ID of the remote resource.

Click Advanced and set the data synchronization properties for the HyperMetro pair. Table 1 describes related parameters. Then click OK.

Parameter	Description
Speed	Indicates the data synchronization speed of a HyperMetro pair. The value ranges from 1 MB/s to 1024 MB/s (or 1024 KB/s to 1,048,576 KB/s). The default value is 32 MB/s.
Recovery Policy	Indicates whether the system automatically synchronizes data after a HyperMetro fault is rectified. Possible options are Automatic and Manual. By default, the value is Automatic. Automatic: The previous ongoing tasks automatically resume immediately after the remote replication fault is rectified. Manual: The value of Running Status changes to To be recovered after the remote replication fault is rectified. In this case, you can check the system and then determine whether to resume the previous ongoing tasks manually.

Click OK.
