This section describes how to configure a file system snapshot. After a snapshot is created for a file system, the snapshot stores a consistent data copy of the source file system at the snapshot point in time.
Creating a Snapshot
A snapshot can be created to generate a copy of the source file system or dtree at the current point in time. A snapshot is available immediately after it is created. Read operations on the snapshot does not affect the data in the source file system or dtree.
Managing File System Snapshots
After a snapshot is created, you can share it with a client so that the client can access data in the snapshot. If data in the source file system is damaged due to misoperations or exceptions, you can use a shared snapshot at a specified time point to quickly restore the damaged data. This section describes how to manage file system snapshots.
