Creating a Snapshot

A snapshot can be created to generate a copy of the source file system or dtree at the current point in time. A snapshot is available immediately after it is created. Read operations on the snapshot does not affect the data in the source file system or dtree.

Procedure

  1. Choose Data Protection > File Protection > Snapshot.
  2. Select the desired file system and click Create.

    The Create Snapshot page is displayed on the right.

  3. Create a snapshot.

    1. Set snapshot parameters. Table 1 describes related parameters.

      Parameter

      Description

      Type

      Indicates the type of the snapshot. Possible options are File System or dtree.

      Name

      Indicates the name of the snapshot.

      NOTE:
      • The name contains 1 to 255 characters.
      • The name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), and hyphens (-).

      Source File System

      Indicates the file system to which the dtree belongs.

      NOTE:

      This parameter is available only when Type is set to dtree.

    2. In the Available File Systems area on the left, select one or more file systems and they are added to the Selected File Systems area on the right.

  4. Click OK.
