Creating Hosts in a Batch

Procedure

1. Choose Services > Block Service > Host > Host.
2. Click Create and choose Batch Create.

   The Create Host page is displayed.

3. Specify Name, Quantity, and Start No..
   

   • A host name must be unique.
   • A host name contains 1 to 31 characters.
   • A host name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), periods (.), and colons (:) and must start with a letter, digit, or underscore (_).

4. Set OS. Possible values are Linux, Windows, Oracle, VMware, and XenServer.
   

   The selected operating system must be the same as that of the application server connected to the storage system.

5. Set Switchover Mode. Possible options are Disable ALUA and Enable ALUA.
   

   • The multipathing mode type of a host initiator:
   • ALUA is a multi-target port access model. In the multipathing state, the ALUA mode presents active/passive volumes to the host and provides a port access status switchover interface to switch over the working controllers for volumes. For example, when a controller fails, the status of the controller port is set to Unavailable. After the host multipathing software that supports ALUA has learned the status, it switches I/Os from the failed controller to the peer controller.
   • When Switchover Mode is set to Enable ALUA, you need to set Path Type. Possible options are Optimal path and Non-optimal path.

6. Click OK.
7. Confirm your operation as prompted.
