When the time of a storage system is inaccurate, you need to change it so that you can accurately locate the time when an alarm is generated based on the alarm logs. This operation enables you to set network time protocol (NTP) automatic synchronization or manually change the system time.
Procedure
- Choose Settings > System Settings > Time Settings.
- You can set the system time in either of the following ways:
- Setting NTP automatic synchronization
- Select Enable NTP synchronization.
- In the text box next to NTP Server Address, enter the IPv4 or IPv6 address of an NTP server.
- You are advised to use an independent NTP server other than the storage system. Otherwise, time synchronization may be abnormal.
- A maximum of three NTP servers can be added. If the time of one NTP server cannot be automatically synchronized to the device, the system attempts to synchronize the time of another NTP server to the device.
- (Optional) Click Test.
- (Optional) In NTP Authentication, select Enable.
NTP authentication identifies NTP servers and automatically synchronizes the time of the storage device to that of the NTP server. NTPv4 or later is required to enable this function.
- From the Time Zone drop-down list, select the time zone where the storage system is located.
- Setting the time manually
- Select Set time manually.
- In the Time area, modify the specific system time.
- From the Time Zone drop-down list, select the time zone where the storage system is located.
Set the correct time zone and time. Otherwise, the time recorded in alarms or logs may be different from the actual time, affecting fault locating.
- Click Save and confirm your operation as prompted.
